For one thing, I’d never been personally involved in a merger before (or received spam M&A emails, for that matter). But a big idea, many conversations, much travel between Toronto and Montreal and a great deal of time spent ironing out the plans led to the creation of our new agency: energi PR, Communications, Digital (ta da!). And to be perfectly honest, it was more work than I anticipated, with some surprises and a few things I might have done differently along the way (hey, isn’t that what learning is all about). So with the integration behind us and website/social platforms in hand, I want to thank my new partners, Carol Levine and Esther Buchsbaum and our wonderful and talented team and say how excited I am to begin 2011 with vigour and… energi (and a resolution – from me – to cut down on the puns-OK, that won’t happen).
On the podcast front, I want to thank my co-hosts, Gini Dietrich and Joe Thornley – for sharing their savvy perspectives, enlivening the show and making it fun to do!
And speaking of Inside PR – we recorded the final two episodes of 2010 – #2.33 and #2.34. Have a listen as we recap some of the trends and developments of the past 12 months and why they mattered to PR/social media. We’re interested to hear what you think and hope you’ll share your thoughts.
As I look back over the year, one thing that strikes me is the ever-growing volume and speed of information that bombards us every day (and night). Social media, like rust, never sleeps. But we need to… at least occasionally. It may seem tough for us addicts, but it’s important to turn off the flow in order to make time to recharge and reflect. Maybe someone will develop a app that lets us regulate our speed of the info highway. Like today for instance… I just feel like a Sunday drive.
